My name is Kindra Coates and I write FanFiction Garret blog. I have three goals for this blog:

• to improve your writing,
• to improve my writing, and
• to make a little money.

I finish my first story when I was eleven-years-old. Four years later, I started writing fanfics because my friends at school would read them and not read my original stories if I paid them. I didn't even know they were fanfics until I stumbled into publishing fanfiction on the Internet. At the end of 2001, I found myself in charge of a forum in Red Planet's first incarnation to instruct people on how to write.

The tutorial proved popular and I moved them to a newsletter format in September 2003. Unfortunately, the newsletter only lasted until January 2005 before the rest of my life interfered with production. I made the tutorials available at the BookWorm's Library and concentrated on other things.

Interest in the tutorials never died out, and after getting plenty of yes to a poll asking if readers wanted to see them continue in a blog format, I started FanFiction Garret in July 2009.

FanFiction Garret

FanFiction Garret is the collection of writing tips and tricks I have learned, and have worked for me. Not all of the tips will work for you, so feel free to modify any advice and you can follow the experiment in the posts. Also I cite my sources and provide Amazon Affiliate links to books I recommend.

The posts fall under four categories: Writing Tutorials (composing tips), Grammar Guides (what you really need to know to use the English language), Editing Lessons (making your manuscript readable), and Miscellaneous Concerns (the everything else category). I earn money off ad sales and if you buy anything through the Amazon Affiliate links.
